ABOUT US

Thriving Together is a free support circle for pregnancy and the first year postpartum, serving families in Jefferson County since 2019. Thriving Together is run by an all-volunteer team of local parents and birth workers who are passionate about creating a safe space for parents in the prenatal and postpartum time to connect, build community and share what is on their hearts. Facilitators uphold the circle's Mutual Agreements: creating a safe and confidential space, maintaining an advice-free zone, and practicing self-care. The Thriving Together circle meets weekly from 9:30-11am at the community room of Hearth Natural Medicine.

Thriving Together is often the first place families go when they are finally ready to venture out from the safety of their home with their newborn babies. This circle is where many parents have found new friends and forged a community ready to support them in this vulnerable, transformative time. It is a place where folks feel safe to share about their greatest joys and deepest fears of becoming a parent.

Thriving Together recognizes that being pregnant, giving birth, and transitioning into parenthood are all very unique experiences. The Thriving Together facilitators strive to maintain a safe space for parents from all family structures and backgrounds. That being said, Thriving Together recognizes that conception, the birthing experience as well as the lived experience of marginalized peoples, including but not limited to LGBTQIA2S+ and Black, Indigenous and People of Color is unique and warrants a safe sharing space facilitated by a qualified individual.  While the group has primarily been attended by the birthing parent, Thriving Together recognizes the need for this kind of support for all new parents and is actively working on creating space for all.

Advice-Free

Our intention is to support the cultivation of and trust in each parent's inherent intuition. Therefore we do not subscribe to any particular parenting strategies and maintain this circle as an advice free zone. We listen with an open mind and presence. If specifically asked for, feedback can be given when we open the circle at the end of our sessions.

Mutual Agreements

Our circle is a safe and nonjudgmental space, open to all prenatal and postpartum experiences. Big emotions are welcome. What is shared is confidential and does not leave our circle. Sharing is encouraged, and is always optional!

Self-Care

We support the needs of each group member by empowering you to take care of yourself and your little one first and foremost. Diaper changes, feedings and fussiness are welcome. If you have an unmet need, this is a safe place to practice asking for help!

TESTIMONIALS

“The early weeks and months of postpartum was difficult for me to navigate. What I found in Thriving Together was a safe space to share my experience, get guidance if I wanted it, support other new parents, and the most valuable thing, friendship with other moms. I am incredibly grateful for the time my daughter and I attended this circle, and it will always be a positive place I hold in my heart.”
